Job overview

The College is one of the top state boarding schools in the country. We have an outstanding reputation – exceptional academic results, sitting alongside outstanding achievements in sport, music and the arts. Our approach is about education in its broadest sense and developing young people so that they have the skills and expertise to be a success in a global society. We value and actively promote learning outside the classroom.

We are a non selective 11 – 18 school with 1350 students of which 650 are boarding. We have a broad and diverse student community coming from local schools, elsewhere in East Anglia and some from overseas. As a result, we have an international outlook which is further encouraged by our links with partner schools in China, Argentina, France, Spain and Czech Republic. We were appointed a National Teaching School in 2016 and our recent Ofsted residential inspection judged the College to be “Outstanding” in all areas with an “ethos of high expectation” and “inspirational and aspirational leadership”.

We are also on a journey as a Multi Academy Trust. The College established the Sapientia Education Trust in 2016 and is on a journey of working with other schools. We expect to have seven member schools by September 2017. For this reason we are looking to add capacity to our leadership team and appoint a Head of School.

With a track record of leading high quality education provision, you will need to be ambitious and student focussed. You will believe in the power and moral purpose of education and insist on the highest standards for all students - these will have shaped your success to date. Your emotional intelligence and exceptional people skills will set you apart.

This is an opportunity to help shape the future of one of the great state schools and join a Trust as it moves into an exciting growth phase. Further information can be found at www.pentir.com/wymondham For a confidential discussion please call our advising consultants Tom Atkins (07879 435232) or Mike Phillips (07830 313915) at Pentir.

Closing date: Monday 24th March

Wymondham College is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. Wymondham College is a unique state day and boarding school offering an educational experience unlike any other. Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds in the UK and overseas and achieve outstanding academic success.

But to us, education isn't just about grades; it's about creativity, it's about sport, it's about friendship, it's about new opportunities, it's about fun. Above all, it's about Life.

Wymondham College exists to enable young people to become happy, successful and useful citizens, to aim for excellence in all they do and to find fulfilment in life.

The College aims to provide the best state education in England within an inclusive and caring boarding community to which all are proud to belong. We expect students to work hard, to maintain high standards of personal presentation and behaviour and to demonstrate respect for others within the College, in the local community and further afield. We encourage students to match their academic attainment with personal integrity, physical fitness, aesthetic sensitivity, emotional maturity and an open approach to spirituality based on broadly Christian values.

We are committed to working with other schools and organisations for mutual benefit and to promote the achievement and welfare of children generally. We strive to adopt best practice in consulting members of staff and in promoting their interests as employees. We use resources prudently and efficiently to further the aims of the College, whilst meeting our responsibilities to minimise the environmental impact of our activities. We welcome the involvement of parents and carers in the education of students.

Above all, Wymondham College seeks to be a place where wisdom may flourish.
