Job overview

The Swiss International School of Qatar (SISQ) opened its doors in January 2017 and has quickly taken its place as a leading school in Doha. SISQ has proven to be a popular choice for local and expatriate families alike and now caters for 715 pupils, operating waiting lists in several year groups. The school offers the PYP and MYP programmes and the inaugural IB Diploma class joined the school in September 2019. The school is truly international in character, welcoming pupils from over 50 nationalities and teachers from across the globe.

SISQ was brought to Doha in a partnership between Bellevue Education and the Qatari Government, led by the Qatari’s Attorney General, making this a high-profile school.

This role offers a unique opportunity to assume leadership of a first-class international school which commands a strong academic focus whilst encouraging a love of learning in all students, with full sport, drama and music programmes to ensure children benefit from a broad education.

The new Head of School will have a proven track record of leading an international school, most likely an IB World School. He or she will build on the strong culture within SISQ – a culture built on transparency, innovation, commitment and collaboration. It is a school in which warmth and kindness underpin the drive for high standards because there is a shared ‘loyalty to a better future’. To that end, the Head will continue to strive for improvement in teaching and learning, increase the involvement of governors, and seek ways to communicate the achievements of SISQ to the wider community. The successful candidate will have the desire to work as part of a team and will possess adaptability and resilience, vision and conviction, cultural sensitivity and an international perspective. S/he will be a reassuring and visible presence throughout the school and will devolve leadership, harnessing the energy and goodwill that exists throughout the school. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the next phase of development of a young school that has enjoyed a successful launch and established a strong foundation.
