Samuel Laycock wishes to appoint a school leader with evidence of successfully leading staff to meet the needs of pupils learning at a level below Year 4 expectations- either in a primary or SEN context- and who is fully committed to optimising outcomes for pupils with SEND (including Autism).

Our Head of School will work with the Governing Body, the Executive Headteacher and our school community to provide the highest possible standards of education for our pupils. The role would suit someone with primary school experience who is looking for a new and exciting challenge or someone with successful SEND or special school experience.

Samuel Laycock is a community special school for pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties of secondary school age. Our pupils find it difficult to learn; so they need the best teachers- and the best leaders! The school is currently undertaking a period of rapid development and you should have experience of supporting staff to improve and develop their practice to achieve the highest possible standards for pupils.

You should be committed to a fair and supportive approach whilst at all times prioritising the needs and progress of each and every one of our pupils through a constructive and solution-orientated methodology. Our partner school- with whom we share our recently appointed Executive Headteacher- is Cromwell High School, Tameside.
