Job overview

Head of School at the British School of Ulaanbaatar (BSU)

The Board of the British School of Ulaanbaatar (BSU) wish to appoint a Head of School to succeed Mrs Karen Mort.

BSU has 450 students, aged 3-18 years, and is academically non-selective.  It follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales (GCSEs and A Levels) and also offers Mongolian students the opportunity to develop skills in their native language, history and culture. Academic success is, of course, important and the school aims to prepare students for their role in an increasingly challenging, cosmopolitan and rapidly changing world. This is done in a stimulating, caring and supportive setting where academic excellence is balanced with opportunities for personal development.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an existing Head of School or Deputy Head to develop their own career while making a significant contribution to the school as it moves into the next stage of its development, finds greater stability and develops its reputation for excellence in education in the twenty-first century.

The ideal candidate will be confident, determined and energetic, with a global vision for education and a good working knowledge of the business of running a successful school.  He/She will be inspired by being with students, as well as being inspiring, and committed to bringing out the best in teachers and pupils alike.  Experience of successfully leading and teaching GCSEs and/or A Levels is highly desirable.

A competitive salary will be offered, which will reflect the importance that the BSU Board attaches to this appointment, as well as the experience of the successful candidate.  Ideally the Head of School will join BSU as soon as possible, however, the current Executive Head of School has offered to remain until the successful candidate has taken up post.

Full details can be found below.  If you would like to arrange a confidential discussion, please contact:
