Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and committed person with the drive and ability to lead the continuous improvement of teaching and learning in the Science department. The Head of Science will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, with strong leadership and management skills and the ability to inspire young people. The ability to teach to GCSE and A Level is required. We believe that with the right appointment, the department can be an outstanding place of learning. 

We are looking to appoint a strategic thinker, who holds student progress at the centre of everything they do. Students at Hillcrest School, greatly enjoy their Science lessons and are ambitious to move into science related careers.  

The successful applicant will join a team of strong practitioners who work together to inspire students to succeed. Outside of the department you will have the opportunity to work with other Heads of Science through the Oaks Collegiate, a local partnership of schools.

Hillcrest School and Sixth Form Centre is a non-selective 11 – 18 girls’ school with approximately 650 students.  Girls are admitted in Years 7-11 (ages 11-16) and both boys and girls are admitted to our mixed Sixth Form Centre. The school is a member of The Oaks Collegiate, a close network of 10 Secondary and 7 Primary Schools in South-West Birmingham.   Hillcrest has well established systems and structures in place to support staff at all stages of their career journey.
