University Church of England Academy is seeking to appoint a Head of Science who will work closely with the Assistant Heads of Science and Senior Leadership, to drive continuing improvements in student progress and Teaching and Learning within science.
As an expert science practitioner, you will act as the professional lead inspiring a passion for science in both teachers and students. You should be innovative and willing to lead on a number of initiatives whilst working as part of a team. Your role as Head of Science will involve developing best practice in Teaching and Learning within the science team.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding practitioner who can demonstrate experience of raising attainment in science across all key stages. You will have a proven track record of success in the classroom and demonstrate high aspirations for the future science curriculum across key stages three, four and five.
You will be a dedicated, talented and enthusiastic individual who is looking for the next step in your career. You will be passionate about Teaching and Learning and developing pedagogical approaches that inspire learners. The ability to be a highly successful team player, in a very busy and fast-paced environment is essential. You will have the capacity and energy to drive improvement, to lead by example and to develop collaboration within the department.
Specialisms in Chemistry or Physics would be favourable but not essential. You should have experience of teaching GCSE and A Level science.
