We are looking for an exceptional Head of Science with a proven track record of delivering results by inspiring students and staff. About the role:

You will lead a team of seven energetic and passionate practitioners with a wide range of skillsets and expertise, supporting the education of our students to ensure they develop powerful knowledge and cultural capital to succeed in life. You will have the opportunity to play an active part in the development and direction of the school as it grows, with rich opportunities for professional and career development both within the school and across the wider Academy Trust. Our Science Faculty has strong established links with the University of Liverpool and we regularly collaborate to deliver events and trips for our students to enjoy first-hand experiences of cutting edge practices. We are also the selected secondary school representative in an exciting new microplastics research project, funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry and delivered in partnership with the University of Liverpool and Birkenhead Sixth Form College. This role offers a tremendous opportunity to shape the curriculum, develop working practices, and inspire our students to be the best they can be. 


About you:

We wish to appoint an ambitious individual with high expectations and the ability to articulate and deliver on a vision of success in Science. You will lead a team of talented and dedicated teachers, working to promote excellent teaching and learning across the faculty to secure outcomes and the continued development of the curriculum in line with the School’s strategic objectives. With a real commitment to quality improvement, you will be able to closely monitor student progress to support individual achievement. You must be extremely motivated, be able to demonstrate excellent professional standards and develop strategies to inspire both staff and students to excel.

The School is part of the BePART Educational Trust which was set up by Birkenhead Sixth Form College, an Ofsted Outstanding post-16 specialist, recently awarded TES Sixth Form College of the Year 2018. The School and the College work together collaboratively to share and develop educational best practice and create an inspiring culture with opportunities for career development. The Birkenhead Park School is a co-educational secondary school for children aged 11-16 and has over 700 students on roll.  It is an exciting time to join us as we are on an ambitious journey of transformation and are looking for staff who are motivated to make a real make a difference to the community we serve.
