Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Science to lead and further develop this strong faculty at an exciting time following its move to purpose built facilities on our campus. This is a great opportunity for an individual with previous leadership experience in a Science faculty. Student outcomes in Science are very strong with many students continuing their studies at undergraduate level.

The College is situated in Bishop’s Stortford within the beautiful landscaped grounds of a former teacher training college and is 30 minutes from both London and Cambridge.  We have a roll of 900 students, both day and boarding, including a sixth form of 250 students.  Hockerill is consistently a forerunner in school league tables.  Hockerill Anglo-European College is the most over subscribed school in Hertfordshire.

Hockerill offers the International Baccalaurate Diploma as the sole course of study in the Sixth Form, with GCSEs and the (IB) Middle Years Programme in lower years.

Ofsted

"Students' personal development is outstanding. All students, including boarders, enjoy school and this is reflected in their exemplary behaviour, their mature and willing shouldering of responsibilities and in the harmonious relationships between students and between staff and students. The recent enhancement of the specialist music provision together with the resulting wider range of available activities has added significantly to students' enthusiasm for school. A real strength of the school is the way students are involved in decision-making through many opportunities such as the school council".
