HEAD OF SCIENCE

FULL-TIME/ PART-TIME

We do things differently at Canbury - because everyone is different. If you are an inspirational and experienced science teacher, and know how to teach in a way that is accessible to all, then come and join us. We know not everyone learns in the same way so we teach in many different ways. In fact, we never try to stick square pegs in round holes here, so tell us how you are different and show us how you can teach the subject from Year 7 to 11.

The science teachers at Canbury are so much more than excellent with a bunsen burner and a petri dish. Working as part of a team is vital and you should be able to work constructively within a cohesive and busy school where the children are genuinely at the heart of everything we do. It is essential you enjoy working with young people, and you will need to be comfortable working with neurodiverse students and have that strong commitment to differentiation (both support and stretch) within the small class size.

We have a fully equipped science laboratory with a prep room and IWB. Science is supported by a highly experienced technician.

Why Canbury?

We do things differently at Canbury - because we understand that everyone is unique, as such we know that the manner in which we educate and support our students must also embrace those differences to ensure that we harness their individual talents.

If you thrive on seeing the opportunities in a situation, rather than the challenges, then we want to hear from you. We are seeking a talented individual with a ‘can do’ attitude. The Director of Studies will be so much more than the job title.

All staff here act, teach, foster, and mentor in a way designed to bring out the very best in every one of our extraordinary students. We expect the utmost mutual respect from all, and working as part of a team is vital. You should be able to work constructively within a cohesive and busy school.

About our School

Canbury School is an independent day school for boys and girls from the ages of 11 to 18 on the outskirts of London beside Richmond Park. With a total of 75 students on roll, we pride ourselves on truly getting to know each one of our students. All our staff are expected to contribute to the values and ethos of Canbury, making the educational journey for each child stimulating, enjoyable, challenging, and tailored.

We are proud of our broad curriculum, the wide range of qualifications we offer, and the support we are able to provide through small group teaching and, where appropriate, specialist therapists or learning support assistants.

Our School community is a happy and inclusive one, where students support and respect each other. We understand that a child’s well-being is as equally important as their academic achievements, as such we enable students to feel safe, understood, and settled in school.

If you think Canbury School would be a good fit for you, and you for us, we are really looking forward to hearing from you
