Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified, imaginative specialist Science teacher, who works with equal efficacy independently and as part of a team, to deliver and coordinate outstanding Science education to girls across the primary age range. Experience of teaching in a London preparatory school, preparing children at 11+ in Science for senior school transition would be an advantage, though by no means essential. Teachers from a senior school background are equally welcome to apply.

Science holds great importance in the life of our school and we have an extremely well-resourced Science laboratory. The candidate will be responsible for teaching Key Stage 2 pupils, coordinating the subject across the school and must also be willing to contribute fully to the school's busy extra-curricular Science programme.

Pembridge Hall is an independent girls’ preparatory school (ages 4 – 11) of 430 girls set in a tranquil residential square in Notting Hill. Pembridge prepares its pupils for many of the top day and boarding senior schools in the country and therefore works at a level significantly above National Curriculum expectations. It is part of the Alpha Plus Group of Schools.

Pembridge Hall School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Remuneration for this post is in accordance with the Alpha Plus pay scale.

About Pembridge Hall School

Pembridge Hall is an independent girls’ preparatory school set in a beautiful residential square in Notting Hill, London. It provides education for four to eleven year old students and has 440 pupils in its care. The school is part of the Alpha Plus Group: the Gold Standard in educational provision.

Pembridge Hall School was founded in 1979 by a religious order of nuns. It moved to its current site in 1983. In September 2002, it was sold to the Alpha Plus Group and expanded into a three-form-entry school in 2003.

The school is split over two sites, between which the girls can easily walk. Reception and Years 1-3 are at 18 Pembridge Square, while Years 4-6 are at 10 Pembridge Square. There are specialist teaching rooms for Computing, Drama, Science, French, Music and Art, along with two gyms and an Innovation Space.

Pembridge prepares its pupils for 11+ examinations and consequently they are offered places at the top day and boarding senior schools in the country. The individual is valued and the school is a community which promotes disciplined, enquiring minds and facilitates children’s development into successful learners and thinkers, equipping them with the necessary skills for their future role in society.
