The Lowry Academy is a popular 11 -16 school in Little Hulton, Salford.  We take our name from the local artist L.S Lowry, who is famous for paintings which capture scenes of industrial England. As part of United Learning, we aim to bring out ‘the best in everyone’ and we continuously strive to ensure that students and staff here have every opportunity to do so. Our values are Aspiration, Respect, Resilience, Confidence and Creativity. Our students decided on these; they are what matters most to them.

At The Lowry Academy, we believe that our priority is to help our children learn. We place this at the heart of every decision that we make and ask ourselves: will this improve student learning? We believe that all students are capable of making progress and attaining the highest level, whatever their starting point. We do not make excuses for our students: we firmly believe that there are no barriers to achievement that cannot be overcome by a determined and resilient student and a supportive school team.

We have a constant focus on high standards from our students whether in uniform, behaviour, punctuality, communication or manners. We are relentless in our pursuit of the small things that we believe have a big impact on our school culture and environment and our students’ attitude to learning.

The Lowry Academy is very proud to be a multicultural, multi-faith community. We celebrate the diversity of our staff and student population and we encourage our students to celebrate their heritage but equally to be proud British citizens. We believe that having an understanding and appreciation of British culture and values is essential for our students in preparing them to participate successfully in British society.

The bedrock on which our school community is built is the excellent relationships between staff and students and between students themselves. When you visit our school you will notice the positivity and mutual respect that is shown to all members of the school community. We believe that respect should always be given and that all members of the school community should act with humility and understanding at all times. We believe in finding a win-win solution to every situation and that the focus of every conversation should be learning.
