THE POST – Head of Secondary (Grades 6-12)

We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, dedicated and experienced leader to join our whole school Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively alongside a multi-cultural teaching and support team in our continued pursuit of excellence. The main aspects of the role will be to lead on and oversee the further strategic development and operational procedures of the Secondary Department (Grades 6-12), ensuring the quality of education provided to Al Dhafra students is as good as it can be. The Head of Secondary will also be required to work extremely closely with the Primary team, to facilitate seamless transition between the phases. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is already a senior leader or experienced middle leader looking for the next progression in his/her career.

Qualifications / Person Specification 

  • A relevant teaching qualification: minimum of a BEd. or BA/BSc + PGCE/QTS for the age group you will be leading;
  • A minimum of 5 years recent teaching with middle or senior leadership experience;
  • An excellent understanding of secondary teaching, learning, curriculum, assessment and pastoral care;
  • Experience / Understanding of teaching students for whom English is a second language;
  • Excellent communication skills to lead by example, as well as collaborate with other senior leaders, staff members and parents;
  • Ability to work strategically, research and implement new ideas whilst evaluating current processes;

Terms and conditions

  • 2 year contract renewable annually;
  • Remuneration package including a competitive tax-free salary, accommodation or allowance, health insurance, flight allowance and end of contract gratuity.
