Founded in September 2012, APIS is an non-selective, co-educational school that caters for 800 students aged 3-16. 

Although the School strives for children to meet the highest academic standards, and challenges students to achieve, it is equally concerned with engaging and supporting the development of all children by providing a diverse range of opportunities inside and outside the classroom environment  to enable them to become reflective, considerate, confident and self-motivated individuals with high self-esteem.

We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced Head of Secondary to join our dynamic teaching team to provide professional leadership to ensure the school delivers a high quality and progressive education for all of its students and to build upon the existing good standards of learning, teaching and achievement. 

The successful candidate will be an experienced and enthusiastic secondary practitioner with experience of senior management in the Key Stage 3 and above. A commitment to educating the whole child, emphasis on high levels of pastoral care as well as extra-curricular involvement will be of the utmost importance as we make the final appointment. Candidates will also need to demonstrate evidence of being a strong team player as well as the ability to adapt quickly to new situations. Applicants must have an interest in staff development and have experience in supporting staff from a range of different backgrounds- more than half of our staff are Malaysian teachers and a key part of the role is in helping to support in their development as International School teachers, through effective mentoring and guidance.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be/have;

• Bachelor Degree in Education, PGCE, NPQH or its equivalent

• Experience in the UK or internationally of leading a secondary school or a Deputy Head looking to take the next step

• Knowledge and understanding of the international education sector

• Understanding of, and experience in, curriculum management, design, implementation and evaluation

• Ability to develop relationships, build trust and command respect

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Cultural awareness, understanding and sensitivity

• Positive and adaptable to changing circumstances and open to new ideas

• Energetic, enthusiastic and reliable with personal impact and presence

• Inquisitive and able to think creatively, solve problems and make decisions based on sound judgment drawing on expertise from others

• An individual who demonstrates a real sense of professionalism, commitment and integrity

The Package 

This is a two-year contract with an option to renew at the end. Benefits include:

Asia Pacific International School (APIS) is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational independent all-through school with sixth form in Malaysia, serving students from the age of 4-18. The all-through school is situated in Subang, Selangor. 

Formerly Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology, Asia Pacific International School opened in 1993. In 2004, it achieved University College status. Students undertake IGCSE exams, opening global opportunities in their future education and work. Facilities at the school include an indoor swimming pool, science laboratories, a large library, ICT suites with Apple Mac computers, cookery rooms and sports courts.
