Head of Physical Education

St. Nicholas School is seeking to appoint a Head of Secondary Physical Education to be responsible for the daily management of the department including pedagogical leadership, executive decision-making and budgeting. The Secondary section is part of the whole school PE department and the Head of secondary PE will be required to teach some younger age groups. The secondary PE curriculum is skills based and includes football, rugby, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics and fights. The Head of Secondary PE is also expected to develop and coach a number of school teams. There is a shared covered court, an astroturf pitch, a smaller outside court and  e practice within the pedagogical leadership team.

Candidates are expected to have:

  • A university degree and a related teaching qualification and three years’ teaching experience.
  • Recent experience in a leadership position
  • An interest in 21st Century pedagogy and also an understanding of how millennials learn.
  • A positive and optimistic attitude to students, learning and education.
  • Additional qualities to add to the school community
