We’re looking to recruit a Head of Secondary to join our International College Spain in Madrid, a Nord Anglia Education school. 

THE SCHOOL

International College Spain is an international community school that is committed to giving every child an authentic global learning experience.

The school was founded in 1980 by the late entrepreneur and philanthropist, Manouchehr Farhangi, and has grown to become one of the leading international schools in Spain offering three IB programmes in English. We are accredited and evaluated by the International Baccalaureate Organisation, NEASC, CIS, the Spanish Ministry of Education and our governing body, Nord Anglia Education.

The ICS campus is located just 10 minutes north of Madrid in a safe, gated community suburb called La Moraleja. Our students come to us from over 70 different nations. They receive an authentic international experience within a diverse student community, from educators who have truly international expertise.

The school is part of the global group Nord Anglia Education which brings a variety of advantages and enables us to collaborate with other students, teachers and schools within the group as well as with prestigious institutions like Juilliard and MIT. From the Tanzania Expedition to the UNICEF Global Challenge projects; all Nord Anglia Education schools and their students can learn with and from others within the group via an online virtual learning platform called Global Campus.

THE ROLE

We seek a talented and experienced leader in education to continue to build upon the school’s tremendous success to date. You will also help us set an ambitious vision for the future of the school, seeing past what is currently in place. 

The successful applicant will: 

  • Understand how to blend the best of premium education with contemporary international thinking to maintain a distinctive positioning for the school 
  • Understand that leading learning is at the heart of school leadership and will build a team committed to delivering this 
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the curriculum 
  • Play a lead role in the recruitment, onboarding, talent and performance management, including the appointment of Positions of Responsibility 
  • Work with the MAC team to devise and implement the MAC strategy for the secondary school and to highlight and provide material for marketing purposes 
  • Collaborate and build high-performing teams 
  • Engage with students, teachers, parents and community leaders in a manner that is open, inclusive and conveys the values of NAE 
  • Demonstrate the ability to create and execute a strategic plan and manage complex projects


ABOUT YOU

You will be able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you will possess a university degree, and leadership qualification such as NAE SLP, NPQH, a Masters in Educational Leadership or the willingness to obtain such a qualification. You will also bring at least three years’ experience in a senior leader role and experience working with IB MYP or IB DP. 

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Spain.

About International College Spain
