Brighton College Abu Dhabi wishes to recruit an outstanding Head of Senior School to replace the current incumbent who is returning to Europe. Brighton College Abu Dhabi is an excellent 3-18 co-educational school that was founded in 2011 and now has over 1650 pupils on roll, 648 of them in the oversubscribed Senior School. Pupils at this level are prepared, supported and challenged to reach the very highest standards and to access some of the best universities in the world. The Senior School has its own unique character but is nonetheless very much part of the whole College.

The College’s principal aim, simply stated, is to become the leading provider of 3-18 education in the Middle East; the successful candidate will have a key role in delivering this vision.

The role is a challenging one, which requires collaboration with senior and middle leaders, an advanced understanding of best educational practice and a willingness to implement, lead and manage change.

The successful candidate will be required to set high standards of themselves and others and will conduct themselves with consummate integrity. In doing so, they will be supported by a highly effective team of senior and middle leaders and a staff, pupil and parent body committed to the achievement of excellence.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The successful candidate for this challenging and rewarding position will have at least five years’ experience of teaching in Senior Schools and will most probably be either a serving Deputy or Assistant Head.

Essential qualities will include the ability to think strategically, work collaboratively and to present to parents, pupils and colleagues a warm, engaging and approachable personality.

The successful candidate will have a university degree and teaching qualification from a recognised academic institution.

Mixed state school Brighton College Abu Dhabi educates around 1,650 pupils aged between three and 18 across its Pre-Prep, Prep and Senior schools. A Sixth Form (Year 12) opened in September 2014. Based on Abu Dhabi Island in a purpose-built campus next to Khalifa Park the has 144 academic staff and more than 100 support staff. It was the first of Brighton College UK’s sister schools in the United Arab Emirates, joined in September 2013 by Brighton College Al Ain.
