Working in close cooperation with the Senior School SLT, the Head of the Senior School (HoSS) is responsible to the Principal for all aspects of the life of the Senior School including its day to day management and administration. S/he will be an experienced senior manager with well-developed and proven organisational and leadership skills, and able to win the respect and confidence of all members of the school community. This role would suit a professional with existing experience as a head teacher or someone ready to take on her/his first headship. The position will be effective from September 2023.

BISC is a selective, co-educational, academic day school with approximately 1,200 pupils aged 3-18, divided more or less equally between the Junior and Senior Schools. It is one of the leading schools in the Middle East in which children are prepared to go on to the best local, regional and international universities and to positions of leadership in all walks of life. The vast majority of students go on to universities overseas.

BISC is an IB World School, an Accredited Member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and a member of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS). It is also in membership of the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME).

The School’s mission is to be a vibrant international community offering an outstanding British-style education, focused on independent learning and the promotion of global citizenship. BISC provides a challenging and stimulating environment in which English-speaking students from diverse international backgrounds benefit from an education which is British in its principles, practices, curricular structures and assessment. In 1989, the School strengthened its commitment to its international outlook by the introduction of the International Baccalaureate Diploma. In 2008, BISC opened a state of the art campus in Beverly Hills, North West of Cairo.

BISC is governed by a Board of Directors who determine the aims and overall conduct of the School. In conjunction with the Principal, it sets and reviews the policies, plans and procedures that will ensure the best possible education for present and future pupils. The School is a not-for-profit organisation with charitable status.

BISC is one of the leading academic schools in the region. Located on the western fringe of Cairo, the School enjoys the benefits of a modern, purpose-built, spacious campus with state of the art facilities. BISC was established in 1976 and has a reputation as one of the most successful schools in the Middle East. We teach boys and girls aged 2-18, with the majority of our students from Egypt, and our school's mission is to be a vibrant international community that promotes independent learning to develop global citizens.

We are based on a purpose built, state-of-the-art campus, 30 minutes West of the city centre. We are surrounded by high quality housing and facilities, though the hustle and bustle of downtown Cairo - and the pyramids - are not far away and easily accessible.

We follow the British curriculum, with a track record of academic success as well as a strong focus on pastoral care. We are an active IB World School, a member of COBIS and BSME, and thus the school provides a holistic education in a supportive and caring environment. We are a non-denominational school, and we welcome students from all faiths and traditions, embracing the principles of open-mindedness and understanding.

BISC is a large school with over 1,150 students across our Foundation Stage, Junior and Senior Schools. Up to Key Stage 3, we follow the EYFS leading to the National Curriculum for England, with modifications to reflect the particular geographical and cultural circumstances of Egypt. In the Junior School, teachers receive specialist support in a variety of subjects and all classes have a bilingual Teaching Assistant to support the class teacher. With the exception of Arabic, all classes are in English, which many children speak at home, and children make excellent progress in their language development. The School takes advantage of the history, culture and geography of Egypt through a range of offsite trips and activities.

At Key Stage 4, students are prepared for GCSE and IGCSE examinations with the majority of students choosing to study the full IB Diploma. Our results are above the global average and the majority of our students go on to attend universities in the UK and USA.

Our package for teachers is amongst the best in the world, with tax-free salaries paid in Pound Sterling. Each teacher receives a generous housing allowance, as well as free annual return flights, BUPA gold healthcare, and a large budget for CLD. Above all we offer a friendly and supportive environment for you to grow as a professional with like-minded professionals.

Finally, further details of our school can be found on the school's website, but if you have any queries please contact the Human Resources Department by email, using hr@bisc.edu.eg.

We look forward to hearing from you.
