Job overview

The Sensory Support Service is part of the Lancasterian Organisation supporting pupils who have sensory impairments in Manchester. The service is commissioned by Manchester City Council.

We are seeking an exceptional individual to fulfil the role of Head of the Sensory Support Service, leading a multi-disciplinary team of very skilled and well qualified staff. This is a unique challenge for a committed individual who wishes to make a real difference to pupils in mainstream schools, nurseries, special schools and at home.

Candidates for this post will have an understanding of specialist support and education for pupils with hearing and vision needs, as well as experience of leadership in a mainstream or specialist environment. A strong understanding of good quality teaching and learning as well as a background with SEND are required, and a specialist sensory qualification would be beneficial.

Above all though, candidates must have a total commitment to the importance of progress and high quality provision for pupils with sensory impairment and high aspirations for all.

Interested parties would benefit from speaking with the Associate Headteacher and colleagues supporting the interview panel and visiting the site to fully understand the role.
