Job overview

The City of London is seeking an inspirational and committed leader that will step up to challenges and opportunities that they would find no-where else.

The City’s education and early years landscape is unique – there is one maintained primary school and no maintained secondary or special schools, but having such small numbers of children makes it possible to achieve extraordinary things . We want to secure a new Head of Service who prizes this opportunity and who will drive excellence through everything we do, closing the gap between the most vulnerable children and those with greatest support and advantage. Once appointed, the successful candidate will start by recruiting an outstanding team, and will foster relationships of trust and understanding with our high profile and high achieving stakeholders though the right balance of support and challenge. They will develop and maintain statutory educational and early years services that are outstanding in every respect and a staff team that inspires and influence others and deliver the very best outcomes for all our children and young people.

The City of London Corporation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and as part of the selection process the successful applicant will be required to obtain a basic Disclosure & Barring Service check.

Closing date: 12 Noon on 19 January 2017
Interviews will take place on 27 January 2017
