A unique opportunity has arisen following the retirement of a senior leader and the reorganisation of the Senior Team roles and responsibilities to appoint a dynamic and innovative Head of Sixth Form to manage and develop all aspects of the Sixth Form at Colchester County High School for Girls.  

The post holder will be accountable for the strategic direction, leadership and management of the Sixth Form including recruitment and retention of Sixth Form students, marketing of the Sixth Form, academic monitoring of student progress and achievement, and the transition and progression from GCSE to A level qualifications and future pathways.  They will lead, develop and enhance the pastoral provision within the Sixth Form so that students are confident, resilient and prepared both for learning and life skills.  

Our students are high achievers who are focused, hardworking and self-motivated; many go on to further study at top universities.  Progress 8 at GCSE is an outstanding +0.91.  

Colchester County High School for Girls is a selective school with academy status and Science and Languages specialisms.  This school is a stimulating and friendly environment to work in, with an established programme of staff induction, training and development opportunities.  We are lead school for the local Teaching School Alliance and Colchester Teacher Training Consortium and the Headteacher is an NLE; teacher led action research is central to our staff development programme, accredited by Cambridge University as a CAMStar School. This is an amazing environment in which to teach and learn; creativity and innovation abound!

About Colchester County High School for Girls

Colchester County High School for Girls is part of Alpha Trust.  It is a selective state school for academically able students aged from 11 to 18 years which consistently achieves public examination results at the highest level and Ofsted "Outstanding".  Admission to the school is via the 11+ examination in Year 7; the school also admits academic students to the Sixth Form.  The school is lead for the North East Essex Teaching School Alliance and Colchester Teacher Training Consortium is based on the site.  Situated a mile to the west of central Colchester, the school is set in its own extensive grounds on a large, quiet campus.
