Job overview

Following the retirement of the current postholder in July, Glebe School will be seeking to appoint an inspirational, highly motivated and dynamic Head of Sixth Form. This a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and ambitious middle leader to join the team following the school’s ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted grade, under the new framework, in December 2019.

We are seeking a colleague who has a true passion for teaching and the character to lead staff to deliver the very best learning strategies for young people with special educational needs. As a qualified teacher, this post would suit a middle leader, or experienced teacher, with an excellent track record, who has consistently demonstrated their impact. You will have the ability to provide leadership and management for the Sixth Form; have the highest aspirations for our students; the ability to develop and deliver an engaging curriculum and will be adept at ensuring that all students are successfully prepared and supported for life beyond school.

It is imperative that you have the passion for making a difference to the education and lives of the young people within the school and for building positive and supportive relationships. Glebe School has a rich tradition of very strong working partnerships with schools and other organisations and continuing this collaboration is critical to the role.

Any candidate applying must have the ability to manage a cohesive team, be self-driven, reflective, solution focused, flexible, resilient and have staff wellbeing in mind. You must be willing to work to Glebe School’s Vision and Values and to participate in the school’s commitment to ongoing professional development.

We can offer you:

  • The opportunity to help lead an outstanding school into the next phase of its development;
  • An outstanding school with good established practices, a sound financial position and good buildings and site;
  • Students who enjoy school and thrive on their broad based curriculum and wide range of activities;
  • A stable and committed staff team determined to give our students the best possible opportunities;
  • Excellent ongoing professional development and training;
  • A supportive and committed board of trustees.

If you are the person to take up the challenge, and to help lead our exceptional school into the next phase of its development, we would like to hear from you.

We encourage you to visit the school.  Our Headteacher, Ian Travis, will be show potential candidates around on Friday 7th or Thursday 13th February at 9.00am. Please contact the school to arrange your visit.

Closing date for applications: 9.00am Monday, 24th February 2020 with interviews to be held week commencing 2nd March.
