Job overview

Bishop Stopford’s Church of England School was graded ‘outstanding’ as a Church of England School in July 2016 and ‘good’ by Ofsted in January 2015. The school sets high aspirations for all pupils and is a rewarding and exciting place to work.

We seek to appoint a Head of Sixth Form to support, hold accountable and develop a team of tutors focusing on high standards of social, personal and academic development of students so that the overall progress for the two year groups are positive. The successful candidate will lead both the team and cohort of students. This involves giving a clear vision and direction to work, manage both the people and resources associated with the two year groups, including Student Bursaries, monitor the quality of learning experienced by the year group, liaising with heads of departments and offering support and guidance where necessary and promote the ethos of the school through leading high quality assemblies.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an inspirational school where ‘Students’ attitudes to others and to their learning are outstanding’ (Ofsted 2015)

The school offers comprehensive CPD to all staff and we are dedicated in supporting career progression and advancement.

About Bishop Stopford's School

Our school has been at the heart of the community for fifty years, delivering outstanding education for generations of North London residents.

Providing a dynamic, modern and exciting learning environment where academic successes go hand in hand with  a powerful community ethos that puts each individual child at the centre and ensures a nurturing and harmonious environment. I, the Governors and the very experienced team of staff at Bishop Stopford’s  School, are committed to highly inclusive education.

At the centre of all our work here is the concept that, ‘the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body’ 1 Corinthians 12:12.

We believe that there are opportunities to learn everywhere and that a breadth of curriculum and extra-curricular  experiences inspires pupils to engage in a life-long love of learning.

Our ‘outstanding’ judgement for behaviour and attitude to learning in both our Ofsted and SIAMS inspections are  indicative of living our everyday lives with five key values in mind; consideration, respect, loyalty, responsibility  and success. We ensure that all pupils believe in themselves, strive to excel and in doing so, succeed in the future,  contribute to their community and take up positions of influence in society.

Bishop Stopford’s School is a friendly and welcoming school, offering excellent care, guidance and support, alongside  academic achievement.

Vision Statement

We believe that everyone in our community is capable of achieving beyond their expectations by living  each day in all its fullness; spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally and morally. We are underpinned by deep rooted values of respect, consideration, loyalty, responsibility and success.

1 Corinthians 12:12 “the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body,  though many, are one body.’’
