Rye St Antony is seeking to appoint a Head of Sixth Form to lead and enhance our provision at an exciting time of development for the school.

In a small school our Sixth Form has been highly successful in giving girls opportunities to  flourish in an environment where they are individually known and supported, and are expected to take an active part in many aspects of school life and to develop multi-faceted approaches to work and to extra-curricular activities, and to take on significant responsibility. A wide range of 24 A Levels are offered, as well as BTEC Business Studies, Leiths Certificate in Food and Wine and the EPQ  which ensures that all pupils can follow their interests and gain a strong grounding for future study and the world of work.

The Head of Sixth Form will be a member of the school’s Senior Leadership Team and will have oversight of the provision of Careers education and a particular role in promoting internal retention into the Sixth Form.

Whilst the job description covers the key responsibilities of the role there is scope for the new Head of Sixth Form to bring their own ideas and expertise, and work with the Headmistress and SLT to develop the Sixth Form experience at Rye.

Key responsibilities:

Ensure that the Sixth Form experience at Rye St Antony:

  • fully promotes the Catholic ethos of the School, allowing our pupils to grow academically, personally, morally and spiritually
  • provides academic development and opportunity for each individual – promoting commitment, independent thinking and learning, and intellectual development for each individual
  • delivers excellent pastoral care and opportunities for the growth and personal development of each girl
  • prepares each pupil for the opportunities and challenges of the world beyond school, with a strong sense of her responsibilities and roles within the communities of which she is part.

Work as a key member of the SLT giving leadership and developing strategy for the whole School.

Pay and benefits

Salary will be on the Rye Leadership Scale, according to experience.

All teachers are invited to join the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

All salaried staff, full or part-time, are entitled to a fee remission, 50% for full-time staff and pro rata for part-time staff. 

At specified times, staff may use the school’s Fitness Suite, and during Trinity Term staff may use the swimming pool at the advertised times.  Lunch is provided in the school dining room, and refreshments are provided in the Staff Room at morning break and teatime.  There is car parking on site, and the School is easily accessible by bus.
