Job overview

Corfe Hills School is expanding! As a result of ongoing growth, we have several exciting job opportunities for September 2023. We are an ambitious and high performing school where every student is known and supported to succeed. The school has been on a significant and ambitious improvement journey over the last five years as can be seen by our excellent outcomes. We are delighted with our recent Ofsted inspection in September 2021 when we were graded good in all categories. This is a fabulous opportunity to join Corfe Hills School and lead our growing Sixth Form.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, well qualified and ambitious person to lead our Sixth Form provision. Experience working with Post 16 students is essential and it is desirable to have experience of Post 18 options. As Head of Sixth Form you would need to demonstrate leadership and management skills, and be able to motivate and inspire students. The strapline for the Sixth Form is ‘Together, owning the future’ and we are looking for an individual who is willing and able to empower our students to make the most of the opportunities on offer at Corfe Hills School and beyond.

The Sixth Form

Alongside their taught lessons, Sixth Form students attend daily tutor sessions through which they engage with a range of skills and knowledge-based activities. Year 12 also follow a Reading Programme where they engage and debate contemporary issues. In addition, each subject is allocated an additional Assessment Hour for students to master exam technique, as well as supervised study periods in our Learning Resources Centre.

Our Facilities

Our facilities are excellent: the Sixth Form have their own café area called ‘Shades’ as well as an expansive Learning Resources Centre for quiet study, situated next to the Sixth Form Office. Students and staff also have remote access to the school’s network, their files and relevant software.

Teaching and Learning

Teaching and Learning is at the heart of all that we do, and our personalised professional development programme is centred around our Principles of Teaching. These have been shaped by research from, among others, Barak Rosenshine, John Hattie and Doug Lemov. We also follow a lesson structure shaped around these principles that liberates and enables students to ‘Learn to the Max’ every lesson. We are committed to regular developmental lesson visits and coaching conversations as part of our shared commitment to developing as practitioners.

Living Here

Corfe Hills School is in a fabulous location within easy reach of Bournemouth and its beaches, Poole and its harbour, the Jurassic Coast and the Dorset countryside. The school serves the catchment area of Broadstone, Corfe Mullen and the wider area and we truly believe that all of our students are exceptional.
