ROLE SUMMARY:

Wetherby Kensington provides an environment that promotes educational excellence and tradition through a forward-thinking, holistic curriculum within which the needs of individual pupils are fostered.

 

Wetherby Kensington is a school for boys from Reception to Year 3 and is two form entry per year group. The boys receive high levels of academic education and pastoral care. The Wetherby Kensington boys begin their learning journey in Reception and can stay at Wetherby Kensington until they are eight years old. Wetherby Kensington can be found in Wetherby Gardens and is in a conservation area. The school overlooks the beautiful Wetherby Gardens.


With the opening of the Preparatory School in 2004, Wetherby boys have the opportunity to proceed through, or sit a competitive exam for, a London Day School.

Wetherby Kensington are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Head of Sport to lead the teaching of Physical Education and Games from September 2024. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious sports teacher with excellent organisational and inter-personal skills. 

 

The Head of Sport will be a member of the teaching staff at Wetherby Kensington and will hold responsibility for the planning, delivery, monitoring and review of the school's Sport in conjunction with the Head ans SMT.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To plan and prepare schemes of work for physical education, games and swimming, which ensure progression and continuity in learning. 
  • To teach consistently teach high quality and inspiring physical education, games and swimming to the whole school in conjunction with other sports staff, as appropriate. 
  • To ensure that all staff are aware of the games curriculum, the plan for each session and are able to implement it effectively for the benefit of all pupils. 
  • To lead the other members of staff in the sports department in delivering the best possible sports programme. 
  • To ensure that pupils of all abilities are given the best possible coaching experience and opportunities are found for all boys in Year 2 and 3 to represent the school. 
  • To promote good sportsmanship and fair play amongst all boys in all sports activities (please view the job description for full details)
