Job overview

The Elms, established in 1999 as the Junior School to Trent College (co-educational HMC School), is a thriving independent school located in Long Eaton and has grown to its present size of around 430, including children in the Pre-School and Nursery.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly organised and professional individual to lead our thriving Sports Department, which offers a wide variety of sporting opportunities.

The role will entail leading a team of dedicated staff, being a positive role model to colleagues, pupils and parents and working in close collaboration with the Trent College Director of Sport to deliver the whole school vision for sport.

You will have a commitment to the development of sport in a busy independent school and will be expected to contribute fully to the extensive extra-curricular programme during and after school as well as fixtures. Other responsibilities will include staff development, calendar meetings, curriculum and policy reviews, reports and assessments and developing community sports links.

Experience and preferably coaching qualifications in one or two of the school’s main sports; cricket, hockey, netball, rugby, tennis and swimming, is essential.  Experience of teaching at IAPS, or equivalent level, would be an advantage.

This is an exciting time for sport at Trent College and The Elms; the whole sports strategy in the coming years includes a significant facility upgrade plan and considerable investment in the sports programme.  In conjunction with the Director of Sport at Trent College, the Head of Sport at The Elms will be responsible for creating a programme that is reflective of industry-leading best practice.
