Head of Sport

We are looking to appoint from September 2022 a dynamic, experienced and enthusiastic Head of Sport.

Saint Felix School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for children aged from 2 – 19, located close to the glorious seaside town of Southwold on the Suffolk coast. Our aim is to develop well-rounded students with the skills and the personality to make a success of their lives during and after their school years.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and experienced PE teacher looking for their first leadership role, or an experience Head of Sport to join an outstanding school with a history of sporting excellence.

As Head of Sport you will have overall responsibility for leading the PE Department in the development and enjoyment of sport throughout the school and encouraging participation of pupils of all abilities to foster a lifelong interest and involvement in sport, health and fitness.

The Head of Sport will provide effective leadership and management to the team of teaching staff and coaches to develop sporting excellence whilst ensuring high standards of teaching and supporting the learning, attainment, progress and achievement of students, efficient use of resources and the creative development of the PE and Sports curriculum. You will be responsible for the planning and future growth of sport within the curriculum and also be responsible for sport outside of the curriculum.  

The Head of Sport will actively participate in and make a significant contribution to the School’s sporting programme throughout the year. This includes the teaching of PE and Games as well as running fixtures and extra-curricular sports clubs and competitions outside of the curriculum. The ability to teach A Level, GCSE and OCR Cambridge National Sports Studies level 2 in addition to an extensive range of sports is essential for this role.
