ACS International Schools is looking for a Head of Sports and Activities to join the team at ACS Hillingdon. This person appointed will be responsible for motivating students and staff alike to ensure maximum participation in the School’s sporting and extra-curricular activities programmes. This role will be responsible for overseeing the co-curricular sports and extra-curricular activities programmes, achieving an effective balance between broad and inclusive participation, with an appropriate degree of competitiveness, setting high expectations for student participation and effort.

Key Duties:

• Develop a strategy to ensure maximum participation of students in a broad and comprehensive range of representative sports and extra-curricular activities, in which all students are valued, stretched and challenged to pursue excellence

• Work closely with PE department in developing curriculum and coaching capacity to support representative sports

• Ensure that all stakeholder groups are kept informed about sports and extra-curricular activities

• Provide regular, detailed reports on sports and activities to the SLT

•Publicise the school’s sports and activities on relevant school platforms such as the School website, Hawk News site and school social media tools

• Ensure that student participation and success is celebrated through events such as awards evenings and “Hawks Night” spirit events

• Recruit, supervise and support the ongoing professional development of coaches and activity leaders

• Ensure staff and coaches working within the sports and activities programmes are up to date with relevant health and safety training and compliance checks

• Ensure that student participation and achievement in sports and activities are accurately documented.

• Coordinate the school's sports programme to align with the London Schools Sports Association (LSSA) and the International Schools Athletics Association (ISAA)

• Oversee all organisational tasks involved with hosting large scale tournaments for the LSSA and ISAA

• Coordinate mid-season trips for JV and Varsity teams in the Fall and Winter seasons

Key Skills and Experience:

• A degree in a relevant subject and teaching certification

• Successful experience in leading school sports programmes

• Commitment to excellence in education and a strong focus on maximising student learning and achievement

• A high degree of emotional intelligence, allied with outstanding interpersonal skills

• A collaborative approach to team working

• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

• Ability to contribute diverse perspectives to the leadership of the school

• A creative and innovative approach to programme design and delivery

• Thoughtful commitment to the role of technology in supporting school programmes

• Commitment to nurturing staff professional growth and supporting staff initiative.

• A growth mindset in commitment to own ongoing professional learning and willingness to develop new skills and approaches

This role will work Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm with some weekend and overnight travel being integral to the position. Hours will be flexible to support events and fixtures outside of school hours. This role will also teach one PE class.
