St James comprises three independent day schools educating over 900 pupils aged 4 - 18: the Junior School and Senior Girls’ School are located in Hammersmith and the Senior Boys’ School is located in Ashford, Surrey. The schools offer a distinctive education, which is inspired by a philosophical approach to human development. The School is seeking to recruit a permanent full-time Head of Nursery for its new Nursery School to be located in the Hammersmith site, refurbished to the highest standards, including a secluded outside play area.
St James Nursery School will be opening in 2019 and Governors are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Head of Nursery. This post offers applicants the exciting opportunity to help establish a nurturing learning environment with the unique St James ethos at its core. The successful candidate would work with our Junior School Committee to recruit a team of excellent Early Years Teachers. The Head’s leadership would need to provide an inspirational role model to the team. They would be expected to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and organisational skills as well as creativity and vision.
We are looking for an experienced Early Years Teacher with a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the EYFS curriculum. A Montessori qualification and experience would be helpful, but not essential for the right candidate. Applicants should be highly effective teachers with a genuine love of teaching and willing to work together with their team to create the best possible learning environment for the children in their care.

St James Prep School is a co-educational IAPS day prep and nursery school for children aged 2-11. An oasis of calm in bustling Kensington, the school is resourced with enviable outside space (including a forest school), a fully-resourced teaching kitchen, science labs, and a new ICT Suite.
