We are seeking a passionate, energetic and ambitious Head of Beliefs and World Views to join our team. As part of an educational restructure in the local area in 2022, we have welcomed over 300 new students and over 30 staff into our community and are now a secondary school of nearly 850 learners across Years 7-13. As we embed the fantastic changes that have enabled our learners to be successful, we are seeking more colleagues to become part of our journey and help us to deliver exceptional teaching and learning and pastoral care.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

To be an exceptional teacher of Beliefs and World Views.

  • Develop and demonstrate high-quality leadership skills.
  • Act as a lead practitioner and model of excellent teaching in all aspects of the role.
  • To help ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across the curriculum area.
  • To support the refinement of the curriculum resources through the design of excellent lessons and curriculum plans.
  • To help with ensuring robust and effective assessment takes place across the curriculum area which accurately reflects student progress and clearly informs students how to make further progress in their learning.

You are likely to be someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has a degree or equivalent.
  • Is flexible, able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritise workload.
  • Has a track-record of exceptional classroom teaching with an understanding of effective pedagogy.
  • Can demonstrate a commitment to and knowledge/experience of effective strategies to maintain and raise attainment, in particular to address the differing needs which exist in the mixed ability classroom, which include second language learners.
  • Has experience of improving outcomes for students with SEND or disadvantage.
  • Has a commitment to the aims and values of comprehensive education, the school’s vision and ethos, as well as the implementation of equal opportunities policy and practice.

About Wadham School

Wadham School is a mixed comprehensive, Church of England secondary school in the town of Crewkerne in South Somerset. It is a voluntary controlled state school under the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

In September 2022 the school increased in size with the addition of pupils from Years 7 and 8 as part of the local area reform. The school is now a thriving 11-18 secondary school with a Sixth Form.
