Job overview
Head of Support for Learning
Strathallan School, in the heart of Perthshire, is seeking to appoint a first-rate, inspirational and enthusiastic Head of Support for Learning who relates well to all children in the age range 7-18 and is passionate about learning and teaching.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding Support for Learning specialist with leadership experience or significant potential as well as demonstrable rapport with pupils and fellow staff. He/she will be keen to develop leadership qualities and improve under the guidance and direction of the Deputy Head Academic.
An enthusiastic, skilled teacher with excellent subject knowledge, the successful candidate will be experienced in teaching the 7 to 18 age range. Experience of supporting pupils through GCSEs, SQA Highers, SQA Advanced Highers and A Levels will be an advantage. A lack of experience with different examination codes is less important than a willingness and an ability to develop expertise and embrace new specifications with enthusiasm and energy.
All our academic departments run clubs and societies to inspire pupils and foster academic ambition; all teachers are expected to contribute to these initiatives in some way.
We believe passionately in an all-round, balanced education that we offer and work extremely hard to balance the main priority of academic work with the social, extra-curricular and sporting opportunities that are on offer. This is not always easy, but it is central to what we do and a willingness to engage with this ethos is essential.
Please note that this is a full-time, permanent appointment with an intended start date of either January or April 2022.
Completed applications along with a CV and covering letter should be submitted by the closing date of Monday, 6 December 2021 at 12 noon.
