Harris Academy Rainham is looking to appoint a qualified Head of Teaching and Learning in English to join it's team of specialists.

Your opportunity

You will lead on Teaching and Learning across the whole academy, leading by example, teaching outstanding lessons but working with colleagues to improve their practice at every stage of development in the classroom.  The successful candidate will join a team to develop whole academy policy for teaching and learning, implementing with impact, including delivering Career Professional Development (CPD) in the academy.

What we are looking for

We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and helping create exceptional places of learning.

  • To ensure the regular and rigorous monitoring and evaluation of standards of teaching and learning across English
  • To observe, coach and mentor colleagues within the department to improve their practice.
  • To oversee all aspects of monitoring teaching and learning including book scrutinise, observations, student interviews and the subject insights review.
  • To develop and oversee individual development plans for each teacher within the department.
  • To construct a coherent professional development plan with a focus on developing subject knowledge and subject specific pedagogy.
  • To support the HoD in implementing the department improvement plan and improving standards across English.
  • To work alongside the Vice Principal to embed literacy across the academy.

You must hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree to be considered for this post.
