“Make a Difference to Young People” - Opportunity for a new and aspiring leader for September 2023

Main responsibilities:

  • To provide leadership in teaching and learning, driving forward outcomes across the staff team.
  • Provide outstanding learning opportunities for all pupils.
  • Provide regular reporting to the schools Exec with regards to specific area of responsibility.
  • Support the SLT and Exec in implementing the schools polices and ethos.
  • To manage teaching staff and support their development 
  • To quality assure lesson planning, mid- and long-term planning for teachers
  • To analyse themes across the school from quality assurance
  • To undertake quality lesson observations in line with the school’s policy.
  •  To support teachers with behaviour management across school
  • Consider and action appropriate support for every pupil (regardless of ability) in their learning, making them feel included, secure, and valued. 
  • To role model and be consistent, fair and create an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect for both staff and students
  • Monitor progress against prior attainment and employ effective intervention strategies when required for all key stages
  • To have strong knowledge of alternative and traditional curriculum
  • To be creative in approach to help raise teaching and learning standards
  • To deliver training to develop teaching and learning 
  • To plan timetables and cover of teaching and learning
  • To manage a team of staff and develop their practise
  • To lead on the collection of data and reports
  • To prepare targets that are in-line with the Schools Action Plan


The successful candidate will have experience of teaching and supporting young people within SEN.

About Roehampton Gate School

Roehampton Gate School is a purpose-built day school for young people with autistic spectrum disorders, in particular Asperger's Syndrome and associated learning difficulties. It is situated next to the Hospital Roehampton. The school opened in April 2010.

The spacious and modern building has been specifically designed to accommodate up to 40 young people with autistic spectrum disorders and Asperger's Syndrome.

The classrooms are set up for specialist subjects including information technology, art, food technology, science and music, together with exclusive sensory and therapy rooms/suites or studios.

Roehampton Gate School is also uniquely placed to benefit from the extensive therapy and specialist mental health services provided at the Hospital Roehampton. Staff and students will also work closely with the child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and experienced educational psychologists
