This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding committed teacher of Technology to lead the department to ensure that every student makes outstanding progress and attains highly.
Manningtree High School is a popular, successful, semi rural secondary school with a strong community feel. We are a mixed, fully comprehensive school serving the local area and work closely with primary and post-16 partners as well as other local secondary schools. The school is set in a pleasant location only 10 miles from the centre of Colchester and close to the Suffolk border. We currently have around 850 11-16 students on roll.
We are looking to appoint a dynamic and dedicated Head of Technology and Vocational Studies to start in September 2020. The Technology Department at Manningtree consists of a Head of Department and three teachers, plus a part time Vocational instructor. There are also 2 part time technicians that works across the areas.
The main room for Resistant Materials is very well equipped for practical and computer-based activities. There is an area for design drawing with 22 laptops, a Boxford CNC Denford Triac CNC milling machine and Roland CAMM1 vinyl cutter. There is also an A2 Laser Cutter. The practical area includes traditional benches, bandsaw, sander, morticer, fretsaw and pewter casting. The room also has a large metals area with sand casting, welding, brazing, milling and turning equipment.
The Textiles room has been recently been re-roomed into a newly refurbished purpose-built textiles room with 11 laptops and other facilities including 11 sewing machines, 4 computerised embroidery machines, over lockers and a sublimation printer and an A4 colour laser printer.
The Food room is well resourced and benefits from an adjoining classroom which has ICT provision.
The vocational area is being relocated during this academic year and will have dedicated indoor and outdoor work areas.
There is also a new purpose built, materials preparation area, storage area and separate technician office.

The school holds academy status and offers an excellent induction and ongoing staff development. We are part of Alpha Multi Academy Trust which has a sixth form provision. Our students are well behaved and motivated and examination results are very good.
