Job overview

Port Regis is one of the country’s leading preparatory schools; an established and successful, co-educational, day and boarding school for children from the ages of two to thirteen.  Our reputation has been achieved due to our outstanding teaching and results, superb pastoral care and academic, sporting and creative facilities.

We seek a Head of Technology with vision, an inspirational teaching style, excellent communication and organisational skills and unstinting belief in the benefits of instilling a love of design and technology and learning in every child.  Our Design & Technology facilities are extensive and on par with most senior schools.

Role profile

We are looking for a Design & Technology specialist, ideally with experience of teaching in senior or secondary schools.  The successful candidate must have strong skills in, and experience of teaching/working with, resistant materials (wood, metals and plastics); product design; and electronics (systems and control, 2D and 3D CAD, CAM, 3D printing, laser cutting, basic coding).  Knowledge in, and experience of, robotics would be advantageous.  They will work closely with our Heads of Craft & Design, Computer Science and STEAM.

The Head of Technology role is responsible for the vision, delivery, effectiveness and quality of the school’s curricular and co-curricular Design & Technology provision.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a love of Design & Technology and commitment to nurturing talent and delivering results to ensure that all pupils reach their full potential.  They will inherit a strong department and have the ambition and determination to enhance a department that already has an excellent reputation.  They will have exceptional subject knowledge, strong classroom management and the ability to inspire our children in the classroom and beyond.

Given the range of academic and co-curricular programmes run at Port Regis, understanding and working collaboratively with colleagues, is an essential part of the role.

Port Regis is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.  We encourage applications from a diverse range of suitably qualified candidates, including candidates wishing to work flexibly or requiring reasonable adjustments.
