We would like to appoint an enthusiastic and talented Head of Design and Technology to lead our dedicated and supportive Design and Technology Department. The successful candidate will possess outstanding teaching and leadership skills and will be expected to lead the department towards even greater success. They will be inspiring and able to motivate and challenge students to make rapid progress. They will have an acute understanding of curriculum developments, and thus the drive and enthusiasm to develop and lead a curriculum that is fit for purpose.
All pupils have three lessons of technology per fortnight at Key Stage 3 in either Food, Textiles, Resistant Materials or Graphics. Pupils can then opt to continue Design & Technology (Food Technology, Graphics Design, Product Design) at GCSE. Design and Technology allows students to think creatively and become problem solvers as part of a team or individually. They learn to combine various materials utilising a number of practical skills. At Key Stage 5 pupils can study A-Level Product Design (AQA)
