Southern Cross Campus is a vibrant Y1–13 school located in Auckland, New Zealand which serves a largely Pacific Island and Maori population. Our students in many cases come from first or second-generation families who have moved to New Zealand for a better life and for better opportunities for their children and themselves.

We are looking for an experienced teacher of Product Design Technology (ideally with a personal strength in Resistant Materials) to take up a full time permanent post as head of our trades academy. The position commences at the start of the new school year in late January early February 2108, or as soon as possible after that date. You will need to be hard-working with a good sense of humour and well-organised with the ability to direct staff and students and navigate the challenges of running a wonderful purpose-built brand new facility. Auckland is currently experiencing an acute housing shortage and we need to produce positive high school graduates who are equipped to move into industry training and apprenticeships after leaving school; so you will perform a vital role in our school and wider community.

Applicants will possess:

• Experience of delivering a secondary school technology curriculum (although we will consider experienced ambitious dedicated teachers who are ready to take on such a role) and ideally some specialist skills in either the construction or automotive fields.
• High expectations of student attainment and behaviour and the willingness to go the extra distance for our students and their families
• Applicants must hold a trained teacher qualification and meet the criteria to access work or residency visas in NZ.
