Job overview

Head of Tydeman Centre

L10 – L14

Required for January or April 2019

The Malling School is a secondary school which is increasingly becoming the first choice school for parents. As a result we are currently oversubscribed.  The Tydeman Centre is one of the largest Specialist Resourced Provision in the county. It’s a provision for Language Disorder, Autism and Dyslexia. The Provision currently caters for over a hundred children attending The Malling School and is oversubscribed.

“The outstanding provision for students based in the Tydeman Centre means they make outstanding progress in their work and personal development.” Ofsted, 2015.

We are seeking an experienced and successful SEN leader who can continue to drive forward this highly successful provision while integrating the good practice of the Tydeman Centre with SEN provision throughout the main school.

The role allows the post holder high levels of autonomy and will be part of the Senior Leadership Team. We are looking for somebody who has strong leadership skills, an ability to manage a team of around thirty-five staff, and an inclusive approach to Special Needs education.

To apply please complete an application form on TES.

The Malling School

A mixed 11-19 co-educational High School of 1000 pupils serving the historic market town of West Malling and surrounding villages. The school is set in pleasant rural surroundings and has its own lake and extensive grounds. It was completely re-built in September 2007 and therefore has outstanding facilities.

West Malling is close to the county town of Maidstone and has excellent rail links to London and Ashford International (for the Continent).

This is an exciting time to be joining the staff of The Malling School.

Our school is increasingly becoming the first choice school for parents. As a result we are currently oversubscribed. We have robust behavioural systems and Developmental Learning Walks, rather than formal observations. All of which allow a teacher to flourish and do what they do best – teach!

We provide a very supportive environment in which staff can further develop their skills and we ensure every new member of staff has access to a trained coach. With close teams of teachers and non-teachers working together we take a collaborative approach to school improvement and have a shared aim of providing the very best education for our pupils.
