We are looking for a highly motivated leader who has energy and enthusiasm to be a champion for this cohort. They will be passionate about improving the life chances of this group of children and young people.

The Virtual school forms a fundamental part of the integrated looked after children's service and is highly acclaimed both nationally and locally, for the excellent and innovative work that is delivered across the county. East Sussex Virtual School has been seen as a model of good practice by the DfE and is recognised by Ofsted for its excellent work.

The Virtual Headteacher reports to a governing body, corporate parenting panel and the senior children's services management team. They will be responsible for the management and supervision of a team of experienced teachers and caseworkers.

The Virtual Headteacher works closely with all schools, early years and post 16 providers. They will be required to build on the strong partnership arrangements that already exist across the county council, community and third sector.

The Virtual Headteacher will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic vision for this vulnerable group of children and young people and will allocate the pupil premium grant in line with the school development plan.

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2009.

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2009 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2009 Regulations.

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2009 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.
