Job overview

The core purpose of this Head of Year 12 or 13 post is to contribute to the continuing development of Haberdashers’ Aske’s Hatcham College. Our three key priorities are to develop Quality First Teaching, Thirst for Learning and Progress & Achievement. This role will entail a teaching timetable and the ability to lead and motivate students.

Heads of Year are responsible for the pastoral care and academic progress of their year group. The key academic responsibility of the Head of Year 12 or 13 is to monitor and evaluate the standards of achievement and progress of the year group by using student data and information and, working with leadership team members, implement appropriate interventions to improve student learning, including through the implementation of the transition programme. 

The key pastoral responsibility is to have the primary role for ensuring the welfare and behaviour across the curriculum of the year group with a particular focus on attendance and attitude towards learning. Heads of Year are expected to support the school’s ethos at all times and will liaise closely with the Leadership Team.

The Head of Year 12 or 13 is responsible for working with the Key Stage 4 leadership and pastoral teams on recruitment and retention of Year 11 into Year 12 and effective Key Stage 4-5 transition.
