Al Mamoura Academy are currently seeking an outstanding Head of Year 5 and Teacher for our Middle School commencing in August 2022.

Al Mamoura Academy is a British curriculum, mixed gender primary school and a girl’s only secondary school located in a state of the art building in the heart of Abu Dhabi. RESPONSIBILITIES:

B. Leadership: 

• Contribute to the whole school vision and the strategic direction of the school. 

• To work with the Heads of Departments of English, Maths and Science to develop the Year 5 and 6 curriculum in Middle School – this is an integral part of the role including bridging the gap between Year 5 to 7 provision.

• Lead year group and planning meetings to ensure that the team is well informed, organised and successful.

• Ensure that the learning opportunities for the children are innovative, purposeful and challenging across all curriculum areas. 

• Promote the pastoral care and well-being of children within the year group by ensuring all systems and procedures are followed.

• Effectively line manage a team of teachers and teaching assistants to ensure they are performing successfully against the UAE Teacher Standards.

• Contribute to the school’s Monitoring, Evaluating and Reporting processes and quality assure all aspects of provision within the year group to ensure we are consistently promoting high standards and expectations. 


C. Teaching and learning:

• To be able to teach all areas of the Primary National Curriculum and promote Project Based Learning. 

• Organising the classroom, learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment and support the development of the Al Mamoura USP in this area.

• Planning, preparing and presenting lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class.

• Providing support and interventions for students with EAL or who have additional learning needs. 

• Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation.

• Marking children’s work in line with the Al Mamoura Academy Marking and Feedback policy.

• Being reflective of lessons taught and student progress made and adjusting planning and curriculum to reflect this.

• Meeting with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists, if required.

• Ensuring that the Al Mamoura Academy Teacher and Learner DNA language and attributes are being embedded throughout the curriculum.

• Contribute to the development of teaching and learning across the school by sharing best practice, participating in school CPD and T&L initiatives. 

• To be able to demonstrate effective use of technology through innovative and creative lesson delivery.

D. Assessment and data:

• Taking responsibility for the attainment and progress of a class of primary-age pupils to ensure that they reach above expected expectations.

• Meeting the requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils' development using appropriate data systems.

• Using data provided by assessments to influence further planning and interventions.

• Providing regular feedback to parents and carers on a student’s progress at Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings.

• To plan, prepare and contribute to termly Pupil Progress meetings.


E. Behaviour management and duties:

• To follow the Al Mamoura Academy behaviour management policy and promote and set high expectations.

• Manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to pupils’ needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils. 

• Maintain good relationships with pupils and parents and follow the school’s procedures to manage and challenge any rare occurrences of unwanted behaviour.

• Ensure that any concerns relating to behaviour & Safeguarding are accurately followed up on and logged on CPOMS.

F. Wider professional responsibilities

• To work as part of a curriculum action group, supporting planning, assessment, resources and special events linked to that team.

• Support with organising and taking part in school events, outings and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening.

• Communicate effectively with parents/carers with regards to student’s achievements and well-being using school systems/processes.

• To run a weekly ECA each term to enhance the provision we offer for our students.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor degree in Education or Bachelor Degree in a  related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching  qualification.

Minimum Experience

• Minimum 2 years Teaching experience in English National Curriculum.

• Leadership experience in a previous setting is desirable.

About Mamoura British Academy

Al Mamoura Academy is a partly co-educational international school located in Abu Dhabi, first accepting an intake of students in 2016. The school has primary and secondary areas, with the school’s primary division being co-educational and secondary being girls-only. As a newly built school, Al Mamoura Academy is able to boast of a huge range of modern teaching and recreational facilities, such as an auditorium, a swimming pool, numerous sports courts and halls, as well as a fully equipped library and extensive IT facilities. The curriculum at Al Mamoura Academy is primarily based on the English curriculum in primary phases, whilst secondary phases offer a wider range of international qualifications including GCSEs and A-level studies as well as a US Curriculum pathway. The school also offers Arabic and Islamic studies programmes should students wish to study them.
