Head of Year 7 (subject specialist in PE or Science)

Heathcote School is an 11 – 18 school on a rapid journey of improvement. The Headteacher joined the school in 2017 and is working with all stakeholders to ensure we provide the best education and life chances we can to the young people of our community. In September 2018 we had a full Ofsted inspection where we were graded as good in all areas. We are looking for someone to lead Year 7 and associated tutors to:
• ensure that pupils are supported to ‘be the best they can be’ in all aspects of school life and embrace the vision of ‘encourage, challenge and succeed’
• manage a successful and innovative transition process from Year 6 to Year 7 to ensure pupils have the best possible start in school as well as supporting with marketing the school to primary schools
• raise standards resulting in high levels of engagement and success in school (as measured in progress data, high attendance and low levels of internal/external exclusions)
• ensure compliance with all the school’s policies and systems
We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational leader to be part of the team that drives the school to the next stage of its development and who can inspire other staff to grow and develop to be the best. You must be an experienced and successful teacher (at least 2 years of experience). You must be able to teach either PE or Science as your specialism. This is a static post and so developing the transition process is a key part of this job.

The school has excellent resources and a stunning, spacious site on the edge of Epping Forest including a staff car park and surrounding roads that do not require a parking permit. We are also a 15 minute walk from Chingford Station which has great links into the City.
