We are looking for a Head of Year 8 to join our outstanding school as we grow into our seventh year - in September 2019 we will be a full school for the first time! William Perkin Church of England High School opened as a Free School in September 2013 with its first intake of Year 7 students, and now has six year groups (7 - 12) totalling almost 1,160 students. The school is rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted (June 2015) and SIAMS (October 2016) and is oversubscribed on first choice applicants. New post-holders may also have the opportunity to teach students of Ada Lovelace High School - the Trust’s fourth school which opened in September 2018 with 125 students. Over the summer we received our first set of GCSE results which were outstanding both at a whole school and departmental level.
The Head of Year 8 will be fully committed to ensuring all students in the year group are supported by effective pastoral systems to enable them to make outstanding academic progress within the wider context of their full personal, social and spiritual development. The post-holder must ensure all students make an effective transition from year 7 to 8 and are on curriculum programmes which allow them to engage fully and stretch.
The post-holder will deliver outstanding leadership and management of the Year team, and effective communication with parents and outside agencies. S/he will also ensure all new tutors are inducted into the school ethos and systems, and will lead in the delivery of the existing tutor time programme which covers PSHE and Citizenship. S/he will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the drive to manage a team committed to achieving outstanding results for all students irrespective of ability. S/he will be enthused by the prospect of maintaining a student learning culture within the Year team which is both engaging and aspirational.
