Ada Lovelace Church of England High School is a new 6FE local comprehensive school for pupils aged 11-18. It is the fourth school to be developed by the Twyford Trust which has a very strong reputation locally for exceptional standards and creative curriculum development. The school is named after the Victorian pioneer of computing – it has a specialism in digital technologies, and will provide curriculum pathways from Year 7 in ICT and Computer Science as well as creative applications of digital media.

Ada Lovelace opened in September 2018 and for its first two years is co-located at William Perkin CE High School in Greenford. The current PAN (125 students) increases to 196 students per year group when the school moves to its permanent site on Parkview Road, Ealing in a brand-new building, and the school will have 1,330 students when full. The first year of the school has been very successful and the students have benefitted from the outstanding standards at William Perkin, which was ranked 8th in the country on its first GCSE results in the summer of 2018. Ada Lovelace students are currently fully integrated into William Perkin teaching groups, however in 2019-20 will have a separate teaching block which will start the process of separation, ahead of the move to the new site from September 2020. It is an exceptionally exciting time to be joining the school and this role offers exciting development opportunities and good promotion prospects for motivated and energetic teachers who support the ethos of the Trust.

The Head of Year 8 will be fully committed to ensuring all students in the year group are supported by effective pastoral systems to enable them to make outstanding academic progress within the wider context of their full personal, social and spiritual development. The post-holder must ensure all students make an effective transition from year 7 to 8 and are on curriculum programmes which allow them to engage fully and stretch.

The post-holder will deliver outstanding leadership and management of the Year team, and effective communication with parents and outside agencies. S/he will also ensure all new tutors are inducted into the school ethos and systems, and will lead in the delivery of the existing tutor time programme which covers PSHE and Citizenship. S/he will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the drive to manage a team committed to achieving outstanding results for all students irrespective of ability. S/he will be enthused by the prospect of maintaining a student learning culture within the year team which is both engaging and aspirational.

About Ada Lovelace Church of England High School

Ada Lovelace Church of England High School opened in September 2018 and has had a smaller intake (125 students per year) for two years while co-located at William Perkin Church of England High School - an Ofsted Outstanding school - in Greenford. The school moved to its brand new permanent site in north Ealing in September 2020. It now has six Year Groups with a total of 950 students. The school will have 1,330 students when full. The school has an excellent reputation and is rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted (March 23). Ada Lovelace is named after the Victorian pioneer of computing – it has a specialism in digital technologies and will provide different routes from Year 7 in ICT and Computer Science as well as applications of Creative Media. Ada Lovelace also benefits from specialist provision and support from within the family of Trust schools.

The Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT) is a compact CoE MAT which comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing. The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. Over a 10 year period it launched three new schools Ealing Fields, William Perkin and Ada Lovelace all of which have achieved progress outcomes ranking them in the top 1% of schools nationally, making TCEAT the highest attaining Trust in the UK. TCEAT aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well. Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the TCEAT operates on collaborative principles with some central services to achieve consistency of provision. The Trust has a highly evolved common curriculum from Yr 7 –Yr 13 which has been devised by staff within the four schools and we have a thriving 6th form co-ordinated across 3 of the school sites. The Trust is also the hub of Teach West London and prides itself on high quality, peer-led CPD within a dynamic culture of self-improvement.
