Hours:                          37.5 Hours, Term Time + 2 weeks + 5 INSET days

·        All students arrive on time for their lessons. Students must arrive on time to be admitted to the lesson

·        All students are expected to have full equipment for every lesson

·        All students must think hard and work hard in lessons. Students are not allowed to opt out of their learning

·        The school has a straightforward approach to disruption to lessons. We follow a warn-remove policy where any student who disrupts learning, having been previously warned and given the opportunity to correct their behaviour, including opting out of work, is removed from the lesson

·        The Academy has zero tolerance for any act of defiance or disrespect towards staff or other students

 We are not just about academic success; we work hard to ensure that we role model the right behaviours and provide opportunities for our pupils to develop the skills and understanding required to both be personally successful in the future workplace but also have a positive impact on the world.

The Role

As Head of Year you will lead by example to implement and deliver excellent pastoral care for pupils and to support the pastoral team as appropriate: Monitor and support the overall progress and development of pupils and facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides pupils with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.

The successful candidate will:  

•      Support the senior leadership team and staff in implementing a vision for excellence by providing a level of service to all stakeholders based on high standards

•      Support the senior leadership team and colleagues in creating a climate hospitable to education in order that safety, a co-operative spirit and other foundations of fruitful interaction prevail

•      Cultivating leadership in others so that students and colleagues assume their parts in realising the school vision

•      Providing a level of service which enables teachers to teach and students to learn

•      Provide a high standard of pastoral care and support to students and their families

The Lowry Academy is a popular 11 -16 school in Little Hulton, Salford.  We take our name from the local artist L.S Lowry, who is famous for paintings which capture scenes of industrial England. As part of United Learning, we aim to bring out ‘the best in everyone’ and we continuously strive to ensure that students and staff here have every opportunity to do so. Our values are Aspiration, Respect, Resilience, Confidence and Creativity. Our students decided on these; they are what matters most to them.
