Plumstead Manor is a thriving and popular secondary school located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. There has been a school on our site since 1913, with the first 105 years as a girls’ school. In response to local demand we admitted our first mixed cohort in 2018 and are now fully co-educational.

The role

Pastoral care is at the heart of what we do to create the conditions for young people to thrive and flourish. Our pastoral team are innovative and successful, and as Head of Year you will need to use your knowledge and skill to lead excellence in pastoral provision across a particular year group. You will need an understanding of strategies to improve student academic performance, to secure the highest standards of behaviour and to maintain high levels of student attendance. Managing your team of tutors and a Deputy Head of Year, will require a clever combination of challenge, accountability and support. It will also you to be a lead professional in multiagency work, and the ability to positively engage with and contribute to partnerships with other agencies and professionals is critical to this role.

About Plumstead Manor School

Plumstead Manor is a thriving and popular secondary school located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. There has been a school on our site since 1913, with the first 105 years as a girls’ school. In response to local demand we admitted our first mixed cohort in 2018 and gradually move to being fully co-educational by 2022. 

We are a large, inclusive, comprehensive school and have capacity for 1,500 students aged 11-18. We have our own Sixth Form of around 300 students and welcome students from our own cohort as well as students from within the local area. Our students progress onto the full range of future pathways, including medicine and veterinary science courses at the most competitive universities and high-quality apprenticeships.
