The role requires:

Laurus Cheadle Hulme is a secondary free school opening in Stockport for 210 year 7 students, growing year on year to full capacity of 1050 students.  The school will replicate the outstanding provision offered by the Laurus Trust founding school Cheadle Hulme High School.

CHHS is the founder school of the Laurus Trust, a new multi-academy trust in the North-West of England.

The vision of the Trust is for everyone regardless of background or circumstance to be inspired.

CHHS is a hugely oversubscribed school with a reputation locally, and further afield for outstanding teaching and learning through the relentless pursuit of excellence and determination to ensure that every child succeeds.

In the list of secondary state schools, CHHS is in the top 20 non-denominational comprehensive schools nationally. This is a fantastic achievement for students and staff and particularly for the Sixth Form, celebrating only its third set of A level results.

We were judged Outstanding in every single category by Ofsted in 2011 and 2015. The 2017 results for CHHS put us in the top 3% of schools nationally (based on the 'Progress 8' performance measure), which is the highest rating in Stockport and shows CHHS outperforming many schools throughout the Greater Manchester region.

A training school for thirteen years and a Teaching School for a further five, CHHS is home to the Altius Alliance centre of excellence providing School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) for teachers of students aged 11-16, judged Outstanding in 2017.

If you relish in the opportunity to join us at an exciting time for learning and development as we expand and open new schools in the Trust and have the passion, commitment, drive, and determination to work with a highly ambitious and successful Trust, then we would like to hear from you.

Laurus Cheadle Hulme (LCH) is a non-selective, non-denominational Free School. It opened in September 2018. We currently have a total of 1071 students on roll.

Cheadle Hulme is a pleasant residential suburb on the edge of the Borough of Stockport, eleven miles south of the centre of Manchester. The location enjoys the advantages of proximity to the open countryside of Cheshire and the Peak District and the cultural and sporting activities of a major city.

Our students are housed in a purpose-built building with access to state-of-the-art facilities and overlooking Bruntwood Park, with our Year 11 students progressing to Sixth Forms in the Laurus Trust. We share the same site as Cheadle Hulme Primary School.

In 2023 Laurus Cheadle Hulme achieved an outstanding set of GCSE results with over 70% of students achieving at least a grade 4 standard pass and 61% a strong pass in English and Maths. Our Year 9 students also received phenomenal results in GCSE Spanish. 89% of our Year 9s achieved the gold standard of a grade 5 or better, 79% of students achieved at least a grade 6 or above and 42% of students achieved at least a grade 7 or above. These results far outstrip national Year 11 figures.

The school is run by the Laurus Trust and replicates the outstanding education offered by the Trust’s founder school, Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS), based in Stockport. CHHS is a hugely oversubscribed school and has been named as one of the UK’s top-performing schools in The Sunday Times, ranking as the 15th non-denominational comprehensive school in Manchester and the North West in the annual Parent Power Survey for 2022.
