Are you our new Head of Year (Sixth Form)? The post is full time and permanent and is available from 1 September 2018.
We are a successful and heavily oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational, Church of England, comprehensive school of over 1700 students, serving families from the whole of greater Bristol and beyond. We are located at the heart of the city and have a diverse student community with considerable parental support. Our diversity is a strength and something we celebrate. The Redcliffe Sixth Form Centre currently houses more than 600 students taken from our own school and from many other schools across the City.
The School is proud of its academic record, and 84% of grades were at grade C/Level 4 or above (up from 78%) this summer. 87% achieved a Level 4 or above (equivalent to a C) in English and Maths. Sixth Form results are also outstanding with a 99% pass rate and 81% at grade C or above. 32% got A* and A grades (up 5%). Most Sixth Form students continue on to Higher Education, including 9 taking up Oxbridge places this year.
The School was judged in January 2012 and again in April 2015 to be outstanding by Ofsted, and outstanding in our church school (SIAMS) inspection, in each and every category. Ofsted judged Leadership and Management, Behaviour and Safety of Pupils, Quality of Teaching, Achievement of Pupils, and Sixth Form Provision, all as Outstanding.
The Sixth Form team consists of an Assistant Headteacher (Sixth Form), with oversight and responsibility for achievement, two TLR 2c posts (Heads of Year), with responsibility for pastoral care for a year group each, and a TLR 2a post (Progression Coordinator) responsible for progression and UCAS applications. This team is well supported by specialist Sixth Form tutors who have additional time for student meetings, two Sixth Form based learning mentors, a Pastoral/Enrichment Worker, a Sixth Form Librarian, and excellent administrative and premises staff, who assist with a wide variety of support.
What we're looking for
We are looking for someone who is a team player who can help students achieve their very best. We are looking for a talented teacher and dynamic pastoral leader. We would expect candidates to be able to teach across all the key stages. Please complete our Teaching Experience sheet to indicate which subjects you are able to teach, and at what key stages. It may be an advantage to be able to offer a degree of flexibility of subjects in the first year in post.

Interviews will be scheduled during week commencing 9 April 2018 (likely to be Wednesday 11 April). We plan to telephone shortlisted candidates early on Monday 9 April, so you are advised to keep some time free on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 April to prepare for any tasks. Please make sure you include a telephone number we can contact you on during the day on your application form.
We do not acknowledge postal applications. If you have not heard from us by the end of April, please assume that your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion.
