Amesbury School is a collaborative and supportive environment where 150 years of heritage is married with a forward-thinking and contemporary educational outlook. The School’s principal purpose is straightforward. It simply wants every child to enjoy his or her time at school; to feel valued as an individual, in a place where talents can prosper to the benefit of the community.  Providing an inclusive and broad independent education for some 320 pupils aged from two to thirteen years, Amesbury is the gateway to a range of some of the best senior day and boarding schools in the country.

At the heart of the School stands a Grade 2* building, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, while a substantial 25 year investment programme has ensured that modern facilities, most recently a Well-Being Hub, Library, Visual Arts Department, Dance Studio and all-weather tennis courts, extend the range of opportunities on offer, and in so doing help to raise expectations and aspirations across the whole school community.

The Governors are seeking to recruit an exceptional leader to join the school as Head from September 2021.

This is a rare opportunity for an impactful, charismatic and ambitious individual to lead the School through the next exciting stages of its development.  The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a proven and successful leadership track record gained in an independent school setting, clear commitment to the ethos and values of Amesbury, strong commercial acumen and first-class communication skills. He or she will be very well supported by an experienced board of governors and a pro-active and collaborative senior leadership team.
