Position Information 

Bonnyrigg is a Partially Selective High School (2023 enrolment 1650+) students, including 96% from a non-English speaking background, 50 International students (increasing) and 36 Aboriginal students. The school has exemplary student welfare and wellbeing programs and a focus on quality teaching. Learning priorities include literacy, numeracy, Gifted and Talented, vocational education and training programs (7 courses) and maximising student engagement through technology.

Bonnyrigg High is recognised as a high achieving school in both NAPLAN and has ranked in the top 20 HSC in 2016-21. In 2021 there were 35 students who achieved an ATAR over 90 plus 5 students who achieved over 99, including the top HSC International student in NSW. The school offers a wide range of academic, vocational, sporting, creative and co-curricular experiences. The Cowpasture network has a focus on Aboriginal attendance and engagement. The focus of this position at BHS is whole school Attendance and Engagement.

 

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

1. Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate whole school evidence-based programs to support strategic directions in student attendance and engagement.

2. Highly developed organisational and interpersonal skills to lead a team and track student attendance growth to ensure appropriate targeted interventions to meet the needs of learners.

3. Ability to build positive relationships with a focus on effective school and community partnerships to enhance student engagement.

4. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively as an effective member of the school executive team to deliver initiatives that address whole school programs.

  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
